About our guest house

About us

Hello, we are Joby and Zoe, and we have been running our Storm in a Tea Cup boutique guest house since 2015. Along with our two boys, Noah and Oscar, we love helping people from all walks of life enjoy Cornwall to it’s fullest. We were all born and brought up in St Ives and it’s great to be able to use our local knowledge and connections to enhance your stay.

Storm in a Tea Cup is a collection of styles and tastes from our travels around the world, with a luxury feel and a touch of the St Ives art scene. Our furnishings all have a story to tell and have been collected with dedication and love; from antique mirrors out of an old Penzance steamship to feature walls made from 120 year old planks from the Mousehole pilchard works.

There are four beaches with golden sands within ten minutes walk (or a 5 minute bus ride if you prefer). The famous Tate St Ives art gallery and Barbara Hepworth sculpture gardens are also on our doorstep. If you feel a little more adventurous why not take a short drive to St Michael’s Mount, the Minack theatre, or the miles of beautiful granite cliffs and amazing coastal footpaths made famous by the Poldark television series?

You are spoilt for choice with a wide range of fabulous restaurants and cafes. We can direct you to the best ice cream parlours; show you where to get scrummy cream teas (jam first, then cream); talk endlessly about pasties; and finally advise you on where to relax with an amazing local gin.
